News and Events Cross-Training Event November 07th, 2005 Upcoming Kettlebell free introductory class on Saturday, November19th at 2PM at the Rising Sun School with Chris Coulthard
The Russian Kettlebell is a low-tech cannonball with a handle. Historically used by "The People" and by Strongmen in the 1800's, and more recently by Olympic athletes, and elite military units. Kettlebell exercises are full body movements. The kb has a fluctuating centre of gravity and a lever like handle that generates a lot of inertia when in motion. This inertia must be slowed and absorbed by the body recruiting major muscle groups, motor units, and core stabilizing muscles in the process.
