We specialize in personal coaching! ~~~~~~~ Not Doing on the Journey "But inwardly, for the archer himself, right shots have the effect of making him feel that the day has just begun. He feels in the mood for all the right doing, and what perhaps is more important, for all the right not doing... "Well, at least we have gotten over the worst, " I said to the Master when he announced we were going on to some new exercises. "He who has a hundred miles to walk should reckon ninety as half the journey," he replied quoting a proverb. "Our new exercise is shooting at the target." Eugene Herrigal ******** Commentary Herrigal spent months just stepping up to his proper stance to pull the bow string, before he was allowed to loose an arrow, much less shoot at a target. The simultaneous attention to form and not-doing was confounding for Herrigal until one day unthinkingly he did it right and his Master said, "That's it". Many months later he said that only acceptance based on complete equanimity would allow a second shot to occur with the same 'not-doing' after a successful first shot. Golfers often comment on the same thing. So it was he began to identify and understand the Eastern pusuit of the egoless state. ~~~~~~~ The Rising Sun School Weekly Schedule (Toronto, Canada)
